To become a leading institution that ensures sustainable waterway development and the growth of the blue economy by developing Kerala’s water bodies and maritime zones in a safe and scientifically sustainable manner.

Mission

  1. To conduct scientific hydrographic surveys in the inland water bodies, coastal areas, and maritime zones of Kerala.
  2. To provide bathymetric data and maps required for the development and maintenance of navigation channels, fishing harbours, minor ports, jetties, and bridges.
  3. To ensure safe navigation in waterways by carrying out surveys before and after the monsoon season, and before and after dredging operations.
  4. To scientifically collect and analyse data for assessing environmental challenges such as climate change, coastal erosion, sea-level rise, and floods.
  5. To carry out accurate survey operations even in hard-to-access areas using modern tools such as satellite technology and Differential GPS (DGPS).
  6. To integrate the collected hydrographic data and provide necessary support for the growth of the blue economy and environmental conservation.
  7. To train professionals in the field of hydrographic surveying and provide high-quality survey services to the government, public sector, and private sector.
